This COLTENE Ostby-design rubber dam frame is molded from nylon in a curved shape that follows the contour of the patient's face, for optimal comfort throughout the procedure. Its purpose is to keep the dam sheet taut once it has been placed and punched, freeing both of the practitioner's hands for the rest of the treatment. Unlike traditional metal frames, its plastic construction makes it radiolucent: it can stay in place during periapical radiographs without creating artifacts on the image. Sterilizable and autoclavable, this frame withstands repeated sterilization cycles and fits easily into the practice's asepsis protocol.

Placing a rubber dam involves two successive steps: punching the sheet at each tooth location, then securing the retaining clamps in place. SEPTALINE covers both steps with its dedicated forceps range: the punch pliers (ref. 3032), with a rotating wheel holding tips of several diameters, and the clamp forceps (ref. 3031), which spread the clamp's jaws so it slides around the tooth without effort or risk to soft tissue.
