- Undyed, absorption ~42 days
Braided synthetic Vicryl Rapide suture, made of polyglactin 910 (glycolide/lactide copolymer) coated with polyglactin 370, a coating that reduces tissue drag and bacterial adherence during passage through tissue.
Undyed, unlike standard Vicryl which is sometimes available violet-dyed, making it particularly suited to visible tissue such as the oral mucosa.
Rapidly absorbable with limited strength retention over time: approximately 50% tensile strength retained at 5 days, near-zero strength by 10-14 days, then complete absorption by hydrolysis in approximately 42 days. Minimal tissue reaction.
Particularly indicated for oral mucosa sutures: extraction sites, periodontal or implant surgery, requiring no suture removal, which also makes it a favored choice in pediatric surgery.
Available in USP sizes 4-0, 5-0 and 6-0, with various needle types (P-3, PS-2, precision-point reverse cutting, 3/8 circle), 18-inch (~45cm) thread, box of 12.
