Unlike electrically powered piezoelectric scalers (Mectron, Acteon), the Kavo Sonicflex 2003L is a pneumatic scaler: it connects directly to the dental chair's compressed-air turbine line and works through sonic oscillation of the insert, around 6000Hz, with no electrical connection needed. Three amplitude levels (120, 160, 240 µm), let you adjust the working intensity. The handpiece features an integrated LED light (25,000 lux), and a Plasmatec coating that reduces perceived heat in the hand, for better handling comfort chairside. The pack includes the LED-lit handpiece, a tightening key and 3 inserts: n°5, universal for general scaling; n°6, crescent-shaped for interproximal access; and n°7, dedicated to subgingival and periodontal access. Indicated for prophylaxis, scaling and periodontal root planing. 2-year warranty.
