They are used after the shaping phase of the restoration (burs, Sof-Lex-type discs) to smooth the surface and remove micro-scratches left by contouring instruments, before the final gloss step that gives the restoration its shine. Mounted on a contra-angle handpiece, they are used at low speed with light, intermittent contact to avoid overheating the composite resin. Sold in packs of 12.
