As the first step in the implant drilling sequence, pilot osteotomy involves starting the bone site before using drills of increasing diameter. This is the role of the IM2P tip, designed for Mectron Piezosurgery handpieces, specifically for the posterior regions of the maxilla. With a 2 mm diameter and a 13.5 mm length, it perforates the bone progressively and under control, taking advantage of the precision inherent to piezoelectric technology, which is gentler on surrounding soft tissue than conventional rotary drilling. Its active surface is protected by a titanium nitride coating, which increases wear resistance over repeated procedures. It is part of Mectron's implant preparation kit and, like the brand's other surgical tips, is reusable after sterilisation.
