The Excavus EX1 tip from ACTEON is part of the Excavus range dedicated to ultrasonic cavity preparation. Its diamond-coated half-ball (76 µm grit), oriented mesially, allows precise preparation of the tooth's mesial surface while protecting the adjacent surface, a key advantage in delicate proximal preparations. It is the mesial counterpart to the EX3 (distal half-ball), the two tips together providing full access to proximal surfaces depending on the working side.
It differs from the other Excavus tips: the EX2 (full ball, occlusal preparation and cervical margins), the EX-L/EX-R (45°-angled half-ball, posterior access), the C20 (condensation for inlays/onlays), and the 5AE (decementing). The EX1 is used with an ACTEON-compatible ultrasonic generator, ideally as part of the complete Excavus kit.
